    Carpe Noctem Party Hostel

Are you ready to change the way you think about Hostels and travelling? Carpe Noctem Party Hostel (‘seize the night’, for those who rightly gave up Latin just after it died) is the perfect hangout and base for single travellers and young, sociable people who want to be part of an interactive and lively hostel experience as well as maximising the city in the day time and seizing the night when the sightseeing has ended. When you arrive at Carpe Noctem Party Hostel you expect a hostel, but it feels more like you’re staying at a mate’s house, chilling on bean bags until beer o’clock? You expect a Reception Desk, but you get greeted with a cup of coffee. You arrive alone, but you leave with 22 new friends. You book in for two nights, but you stay two weeks. And that’s just the beginning… If you’re a sociable or a solo traveller and want to meet other people in a welcoming, friendly environment, please read on! Hostelworld guests rated Carpe Noctem Hostel the most fun hostel the world in 2009! Do you want to feel like you are staying in a social place not just a bed in a room? Do you want to be taken out by staff to cool underground places unseen on the common traveller’s route? Do you want to have live-in English-speaking staff who have all moved to Budapest because they came and fell in love with it and are passionate to show you why? Do you want to stay in a lively and social atmosphere? Do you want to go out every night on pub crawls, karaoke nights, cheap drink nights, live music nights? Do you want to be given a warm welcome and a detailed introduction of the city with all the hot spots for pubs, bars, restaurants, clubs and sightseeing? Do you want to be introduced to other guests so you can instantly make friends for life? Carpe Noctem Party Hostel has a very cosy and intimate set-up, which means it’s almost impossible to not meet people and make instant friends. Plus they have organised events every night so get involved! Carpe Noctem Party Hostel is located within 10-15 minutes walking distance of the most popular tourist attractions: House of Terror, Oktogon, Szechenyi Thermal Baths, the city park, Andrassy Avenue, St Istvan’s Basilica, Freedom Square, the Danube and Parliament. They also have 24-hour check-in, no curfew and very relaxed check-out times. Carpe Noctem Party Hostel… you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!
Protip: Unfortunately Carpe Noctem Hostel doesn’t accept guests over the age of 36 or groups of more than 3 people.
Protip: Most staff are originally from Commonwealth Lands and often miss certain things, so if you want to bring them something from home to put a smile on their faces or potentially knock a euro or two off your stay, just email them HERE after you book.
  • The biggest issue that comes with staying at Carpe Noctem Hostel is a rather grave one – subsequent hostel experiences will be, in comparison, as disappointing as feeding a hangover with soggy celery sticks rather than a juicy slab of steak! You’ll book for 2 nights and then sack off other plans so you can stick about for at leeeaaast a week longer, a guilty glee bubbling inside you telling you that your next dwelling on the list can just bloody wait. BUT THEN! – You will have such drunken fun and tomfoolery with amazing new friends, hang about all day like its home with a cuppa on the sofa, see all the wondrous sights suggested to you by the staff… by the time you leave you will be questioning your entire existence away from such a fine establishment, wondering why in Ronald McDonald’s name no one told you about Carpe before. I can only describe it as the crème de la crème of hostel experiences. It ticks every box for cleanliness, facilities, comfort, location and so on. But what you cannot describe fully is the fantastic atmosphere and the energy that fuel its distinctive vibe, collectively derived from the staff and other travellers. Genuinely friendly, interesting, excited for your company on any of the brilliant nights out, you’ll come alone and walk away with a new family. Go there now, and brace yourself to want to return!

This hostel is ideal for people who are: a) travelling alone or in small groups, b) are willing to party any night of the week, c) wish to meet new people, d) like Australians, AND e) don’t mind walking up many flights of stairs!… as a single traveller it is so important to have activities that are not only planned for you but are actually enjoyable. These guys make sure you are going to have a crazy night out with authentic Budapest experiences.

Once you come and stay at this hostel you will DEFINITELY want to come back again (which is why this trip was my second time staying here, and certainly not the last) – love the staff, love how welcoming they are, love the nights they put on, everyone’s really friendly, it’s comfortable, it’s clean – like a home from home – if you need to come in and take a nap at 4pm in the afternoon because you maybe enjoyed the night a little TOO much then you can do, laze around on the sofas with a cuppa…basically it’s amazing and I can’t wait to go back!

This place is honestly the best place on earth. Despite the crazy amount of stairs to the top, you will fall in love and crave the place. It will corrupt the innocent and encourage the wicked. An instant family, carpe will complete you. Good luck on trying to leave, though. but if you can manage it, prepare for a deep sense of loss and plenty of tears when you go, kicking and screaming into the cab. I miss you Carpe, even though I saw your dirty underbelly cleaning vomit out of the drains as a house bitch. Never had a better time. I love you always, Cindy xxxx

  2. I’ve stayed here 3 times and each time it’s like coming home. All the staff members are so welcoming and go out of their way to help you out. They take you out every night to some of the craziest events I’ve ever been to, a rave at an amusement park, sparties, parties at a waterpark, booze cruises down the Danube and so many dress up nights. I’m proud to say I don’t remember half my time at Carpe Noctem hostel but i do know I left with lifelong friends and a place I can always call home. FUCK THE DAY, SIEZE THE NIGHT!!
